It's finally settled, the actual capacity of the fuel tank is a total of 4.4 gallons including the reserve! BMW states on it's website that it is 16L (4.2gals) with a 4L (1gal) reserve which should bring it to 20L (5.2gals) total! In every year before 2012, the owners manual (which you couldn't get until you purchased the bike) said it held the above but for 2012 they changed the owners manual to reflect a 13.5L (3.6gal) tank with a 3L (3.2qt) reserve which bring it to a total of 16.5L (4.4gal) which this video proves!!! BMW on their website still says that it holds a total of 5.2 gallons which it obviously does not in the US market. Be warned!!!
